Former SAD sarpanch held for forgery in Ludhiana

The division number 5 police, Ludhiana, on Wednesday, arrested former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) sarpanch Nirvair Singh from Amaltan Enclave in a case of forgery and producing fake documents in an attempt to grab a property.

The division number 5 police, Ludhiana, on Wednesday, arrested former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) sarpanch Nirvair Singh from Amaltan Enclave in a case of forgery and producing fake documents in an attempt to grab a property.

The police produced the accused before a court on Thursday. The court remanded him in one-day police custody.

The case was registered against the accused on June 20, 2015, following a complaint by one Monika Khurmi of Upkar Nagar.

Inspector Beant Juneja said that Khurmi had alleged that the accused with others had procured forged documents of a piece of land in Samrala and had tried to grab it.

The police had registered a case under Sections 419, 420 (forgery), 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Nirvair Singh and others.

The accused was arrested from the bus stand area following a tip-off, the inspector said.
