The accused have been identified as Govind Singh, a resident of Sangat Kalan, Mangu Singh from Gehri Buttar and two other unidentified persons. SHO of Sangat police station Sandeep Singh said that due to a property dispute of the accused with the owner of Ekam Dhaba Navjet Singh, the four accused had resorted to opening fire at him at about 6 pm.

The dhaba owner managed to save himself, but truck driver Hardev Singh, a resident of Jira village, who was having a meal at the dhaba at that time, was hit by a bullet which led to his death. A case under Section 302 and the arms act has been registered against the accused.
