Four shops broken into in Abohar

It was a free-run for criminals in Abohar on Tuesday night. Four shops were broken into within the space of hours.

It was a free-run for criminals in Abohar on Tuesday night. Four shops were broken into within the space of hours.

The gate of the roof at Tirlok Chand and Sons at the local Mandi-II was broken open and burglars whisked away Rs 1.55 lakh, besides 80 silver coins. Monga Beej Bhandar, Bala Ji Tempo Works and Anil Juneja's business houses were also broken into with cash and material being stolen.

The incident spread panic and enraged the traders. A meeting was later held between the traders and the police at several places. Opposition leader Sunil Jakhar also met the traders. Fazilka SSP Ashok Bath visited the area and along with SP Abohar Kuldeep Chahal held a meeting with traders.

"The miscreants will be nabbed soon and action will be taken," he assured the traders.
