The BJP leader, who has openly criticised the state government in the past also, said, “In place of hearing people who are upset with the working of the government, it is immature to say that it was a Congress-backed ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ or see a foreign hand in the unrest in the state.”

She said, “We need to admit that be it the farming sector, common man, industrialists, small traders or teachers, all are unhappy with the policies of the government. The focus should be on addressing their woes and not suppressing them.”

Dr Sidhu said, “The government did not react in time when the sacrilege incidents took place; also, it did not react in time to the demands of farmers. This is the reason anger accumulated and people came on to the roads.”
