Girl chases, catches bike-borne snatchers in Jalandhar

In a courageous act, a Ghas Mandi-based girl chased the bike-borne snatchers and caught them after they snatched a purse from her aunt on the Football Chowk on Monday.

In a courageous act, a Ghas Mandi-based girl chased the bike-borne snatchers and caught them after they snatched a purse from her aunt on the Football Chowk on Monday.

The girl, Anju, was driving her scooter and heading towards Adarsh Nagar to drop her aunt Rajinder Kaur, riding pillion, after her medical examination at the civil hospital. When they reached the Football Chowk, the duo accused snatched the purse from her aunt and drove towards Nakodar Chowk side. The purse contained Rs 1,100, a mobile phone, medicines and others valuable items.

Anju immediately followed the snatchers till Guru Nanak Mission Chowk where the accused rammed into a rickshaw after failing to apply brakes and fell down.

Anju raised an alarm and caught the snatchers on the spot with the help of commuters.

The traffic cops deployed at the chowk took the accused into custody and handed them to the local police.

Till the filing of this report, the cops were interrogating the accused and a case was yet to be registered against them.
