Govt-aided schools go without mid-day meal

Students of government-aided schools returned home hungry on Tuesday as they were not provided mid-day meals. The school authorities alleged that due to negligence on the part of contractors the students were made to suffer.

Students of government-aided schools returned home hungry on Tuesday as they were not provided mid-day meals. The school authorities alleged that due to negligence on the part of contractors the students were made to suffer.

State unit president of the Government Aided Schools Progressive Front Punjab Upjit Singh Brar informed that the mid-day meals were not delivered in some schools on Tuesday while in some others it was sent four hours before time.

Members of the Government Aided Schools Progressive Front, Punjab, claimed that if such an episode was repeated in future they would hold protest against the government and contractors. Demanding immediate action, members of the front handed over a memorandum to deputy district education officer ( DEO ), secondary, Bahadur Singh.

Schools affected by the mismanagement of contracts included B.N Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Khalsa Sewak Jatha, Atma Ram Senior Secondary School, Arya Girls School, Arya Boys School, Hindu Sewa Samiti School.
