Local bodies minister Bhagat Chunni Lal on Sunday said the government would not allow mushrooming of illegal colonies anywhere in the state and would soon come up with a strict policy to crack down on such builders.
"The government will soon come up with a special policy on illegal colonies in which strict provisions would be made to impose big fines against violators. These colonies are a big threat to the systematic development in towns and cities and the government won't allow it at any cost," he said.
He was here to inaugurate the district office of the BJP.
The minister said the department was keeping a strong vigil on such colonies and had directed the owners of these colonies to put up a board mentioning 'illegal colony' in front of the gate.
When asked if the government would allow the regularisation of already set-up colonies, Bhagat said it was up to the cabinet to take such a decision.
Regarding the master plan prepared by the government for implementation in main cities of the state, the local bodies minister said the plan was expected to come up within a few months following which the government would issue funds for development projects in these areas.
