Kanwar Ranbir Singh Gill, a 1982-batch IPS officer, who belonged to Amritsar, is the first cop to receive the honour, police here said.

The bust was inaugurated by local bodies minister Anil Joshi, All India Anti Terrorist Front chairman MS Bitta, and DGP (human rights) Rajinder Singh.

Rabia Gill, daughter of Gill, who was about six months old at the time of her father's death, expressed happiness that the government honoured her father's sacrifice.
