'Govt in process of making Haryana agriculture globally competitive'

Working group of prominent scientists which was constituted by Haryana Kisan Ayog under the chairmanship of renowned agricultural scientist PL Gautam submitted its report to the chairman of Haryana Kisan Ayog, RS Paroda, on Wednesday.

Working group of prominent scientists which was constituted by Haryana Kisan Ayog under the chairmanship of renowned agricultural scientist PL Gautam submitted its report to the chairman of Haryana Kisan Ayog, RS Paroda, on Wednesday.

According to Paroda, the governement of Haryana is in the process of making agriculture a globally competitive occupation by enhancing quality and quantity of the products and also enhancing profitability, employment generation and entrepreneurship.

To transform the state agriculture as a buoyant and remunerative occupation, the state government constituted "Haryana Kisan Ayog" (HKA) in 2010 and appointed RS Paroda, an eminent agriculture scientist and former director general of ICAR and secretary, department of agricultural education and research, Government of India as its Chairman to suggest measures to improve overall agriculture and livelihood of farmers of the State.

The scientists have further recommended that emphasis should be laid on the development of climate resilient and low input specially water requiring varieties and hybrids of crops.
