Govt sanctions Rs 15 crore for power reforms

With an aim to improve the power capacity by increasing loads of transmitters at Samana, the Punjab government has sanctioned Rs 15 crore for the improvement of the power services and various related works.

With an aim to improve the power capacity by increasing loads of transmitters at Samana, the Punjab government has sanctioned Rs 15 crore for the improvement of the power services and various related works.

While inaugurating 20 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) power transformers at 66kv power grid along the Samana-Bhawanigarh road, water supply and sanitation minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said: “The state government has launched Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (RAPDRP) to improve technical faults and power services at Samana.”

He also reviewed various development projects related to the power supply here on Sunday. He said the construction of new grids, capacity increase of old power grids, installation of new transformers had been initiated under the scheme at Samana.

The capacity of 15KVA transfer at Samana town will be increase to 100-200 KVA along with installation of 80 new transformers of 100KVA.

He said old mechanical meters would be replaced by new electronic meters, laying of new cables and improvement works would be completed by June.
