Principal bench of the tribunal passed the order hearing an application filed by Nakodar resident Gaurav Jain.

The tribunal said deputy commissioner and SSP (rural) Jalandhar, who where present before the tribunal, agreed that the collection and disposal of MSW in Nakodar requires improvements. It also said Nakodar is a part of Jalandhar cluster for collection and disposal of MSW, where it is proposed to install disposal plant.

These officers assured that no MSW would be thrown on the roads in Jallandhar and Nakodar. Different sites for dumping and disposal of MSW would be identified by the expert bodies and the list would be submitted to the tribunal.

The tribunal ordered officers to submit plan on October 3, next date of hearing. It also granted liberty to these officers to approach the chief secretary of Punjab for preparation of model MSW disposal plan at Jalandhar which then can be adopted for other clusters in Punjab.
