Politicians cutting across party lines took to Twitter to share their views and offer condolences as news of the terror attack at Dinanagar town in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district unfolded through Monday morning.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, @abdullah_omar, was the first to tweet at 8.30am: “Will be very interested to see what emerges about the identity of the terrorists involved in the Gurdaspur attack this morning. The timing of the attack, methodology & location are all eerily similar to attacks in the border belt of Jammu.”
Union home minister Rajnath Singh updated Twitterati in a series of tweets from 8.30am to 8.39am: “Spoke to Punjab chief minister Shri Prakash Singh Badal who apprised me of the developing situation in Gurdaspur. Also spoke to home secretary and NSA (national security adviser) regarding the situation in Gurdaspur. Security forces have been rushed to the spot. The MHA (ministry of home affairs) is monitoring the situation in Gurdaspur and Punjab. I am confident that the situation will be soon brought in control.”

Shortly thereafter, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, @Partap_Sbajwa, retweeted CNN-IBN News and added, “My condolences to the families. I strongly condemn this dastardly act. Unfortunate day for #Punjab #GurdaspurAttack.”
BJP cabinet minister from neighbouring Haryana Om Prakash Dhankar,@OPDhankar, was next to tweet,
I condemn suspected terror attack on our soil at Punjab this morning. Our forces must immediately eliminate any threat possible on civilians
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, @ArvindKejriwal, expressed solidarity with the people of Punjab at 10.03am: “We strongly condemn cowardly attack on innocent ppl in Punjab. We are with the people of Punjab and hope that culprits wud soon be nabbed.”
Half an hour later, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter at 10.34am: “Strongly condemn the terror attack in Gurdaspur. I hope the situation is brought under control at the earliest. My prayers are with the families of those of who lost their lives in the attack.”
Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher reacted at 1.35pm: “Shocked and saddened by the attacks in Gurdaspur, my deepest condolences to the families of those slain.”
