The district authorities also promised to form a committee headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court to resolve the controversy.

To resolve the tussle between the Bhullar community and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members over possession of gurdwara land, the Bathinda DC and SSP Ravcharan Brar offered juice to Magghar Singh and Parduman Singh who were on fast for the past seven days as the health of both reportedly started deteriorating.

On Sunday, members of the Bhullar community faced a mild lathicharge by the Mansa police for protesting at a Sangat Darshan programme at Khadaksingh Wala village in Mansa block. Police rounded up about 40 protesters who allegedly raised anti-government slogans and tried to disrupt Sangat Darshan. They were released later.

The Bhullar community reveres the smaadh and claim that the land belonged to them for long, while the SGPC workers in the village claimed that they have possession over it since the beginning of gurdwara. Members of the Bhullar community claim to have been worshipping at the gurdwara since generations and hosting festivals at the land in question.
