District party chief Vijay Agnihotri and media in-charge Ajay Sharma issued a joint statement here on Thursday, alleging that this was being done “under the pressure of the Congress party and was undemocratic and uncalled for”.

They added that when they asked the deputy commissioner and the district police chief about the incident, the officials denied having issued any orders to remove flags and banners put up with the permission of the house owners.

The BJP leaders said the party would not tolerate such tactics and resort to an agitation if they did not stop.

They also urged the deputy commissioner and the district police chief to take action against the erring police officials for acting in a dictatorial way.
