A day after registering an FIR against Himachal Pradesh MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary, his wife and three others in connection with the murder of Bhunga girl Jyoti, Hariana police, on Tuesday, arrested one of the accused Malkiat Singh alias Ladoo, a resident of Mallian Pandori village.

He would be produced in the court on Wednesday, said station house officer (SHO) Bikramjit Singh.

Ladoo is accused of threatening the key witness and deceased's father Buti Ram. The latter had told the Panchkula police, investigating the murder case, that he was pressured by accused MLA's men, including Ladoo, to turn hostile in the court.

A day before the court hearing, on December 22, the accused had come to Bhunga and threatened him to change his statement, he had alleged.

Panchkula police had registered a zero FIR under sections 195-A (threatening a person to give false evidence), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sent it to Hariana police along with the CD containing Buti Ram's conversation with the accused.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Narinder Bhargav said that forensic report of the CD would prove crucial in the investigation. He revealed that Buti Ram had been provided two security guards.
