Local member of Parliament (MP) and union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on Tuesday, appealed to the people to remain vigilant and maintain peace and communal harmony in the state and have trust in the state government.
Harsimrat Kaur, who, according to a press release issued here, returned on Monday from an official visit to Germany, assured the people that she was with them in their grief and demanded the harshest possible punishment for those who desecrated Guru Granth Sahib.
Pointing out to repeated incidents of desecration, she said it was clear that some external agencies were trying to destabilise the Punjab government. She urged the people to be vigilant against such forces and rumour-mongers and the false information being spread by mischievous elements. She also urged the people to have trust in the Punjab government which was committed to apprehend the accused and also urged for organising ‘akhand paths’ to express grief over the incidents of desecration.
She assured that those behind desecration incidents would be dealt with severely. “These sacrilegious acts are an unpardonable offence and no one, associated with this ghastly crime, would be spared at any cost. She also exhorted the people of Punjab to prevent incidents of sacrilege of religious places across the cities and towns by remaining vigilant.
