With Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal busy with the winter session of Parliament in New Delhi, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal are apparently ensuring that her campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls does not get affected in her absence.
Both the CM and the deputy CM are camping in Bathinda parliamentary constituency, making the most of sangat darshan programmes across the district to urge people to vote for Harsimrat.
The local MP, who used to be with the chief minister and his deputy during a majority of the public appearances in this constituency, has not attended any public function in the area for the past more than a fortnight.
Intriguingly, Rampura Phul assembly segment (in Bathinda district), represented by education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka, has not witnessed a single sangat darshan programme recently, whereas there has been a series of such programmes in several assembly segments under Bathinda parliamentary constituency, including those in Mansa and Muktsar districts.
The chief minister, who had listened to grievances of people during a sangat darshan in Maur assembly segment on Wednesday, attended similar programmes at six places across Bathinda district on Thursday. He had also attended such programmes in Lambi assembly segment of Bathinda Lok Sabha seat on January 13, 15 and 16.
The deputy CM seems to be concentrating more on Mansa district, whose three assembly segments are part of Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. Soon after attending a programme in villages of the district on January 28, he was present at functions in the district on Thursday also. Besides Mansa district, Sukhbir also attended programmes in Bathinda district and Lambi segment of Muktsar district in January.
