A spokesperson of higher education department said that only the fresh students, first year in under-graduate as well as the first year in post-graduate courses, would be applying for admission through the online procedure. Like last year, no prospectus will be printed this year either.

The spokesperson said that the authorised bank would be State Bank of Patiala. An aggregator has been purchased as suggested by the bank- as 'Bill Desk', so that the students would have the facility to deposit fee and funds at more than 47 nationalized banks. In case the fee and funds are to be deposited by cash, it could only be done at a counter of State Bank of Patiala. The admission form has space for filling Aadhaar and the bank account number which are mandatory this time.

He said that the principals are directed to complete the details of the students studying in first and second year in 2014-15 as these would be promoting to the next class. For these, the college authority would only tick the confirmed button and would generate the e-challan for payment of dues by the old students.

The uploading of admission forms would start from June 8, and the last date would be June 30 for normal admissions.
Procedure

All the students applying through the online mode need to take a print out of the admission form and attach all documents pertaining to academic records, reservation, brother- sister concession, claim for any weight-age and all of these would be deposited in the concerned colleges in hard copy after putting signatures of the candidate and the parents.

Principals are directed to install Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as the browser on their computer systems which would be used for online admissions. In case of connectivity errors or heavy rush of students, the principals are authorised to download the application form and issue a blank form to the students, who after filling and attaching all required documents can submit back the same to the college. The college can upload the details of the students through online only.

Problems which were faced last time

1. All colleges could not buy web cameras and data cards to enable online applications.

2. The guidelines and information about affiliating universities was available on second page. Many students used to start filing
without reading all the guidelines.

3.Admission forms were submitted without filling all the options.

4. The servers remained choked due to the huge flow of applications.
