The two discoms -- Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam -- said adequate power will be supplied to farm sector in the wake of paddy sowing season.

Moreover, there is not going to be load shedding for industries even if demand for power goes up in agriculture sector, the discoms said.

"The projected demand for electricity from June to September in Haryana is 8,100-8,300 MW whereas the state has already arranged up to 10,600 MW of power through long-term arrangements," said the official spokesman of the discoms.

At present, the demand for electricity is between 5,000 to 7,200 MW during different time slots and it is expected that it will be from 6,000 to 8,300 MW in near future.

He said the present power supply schedule is 8 hours per day for tube-well consumers, 14 hours for rural domestic consumers and 20 hours for urban domestic consumers, respectively.

The spokesman, however, said the load restrictions were being imposed locally at Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panipat and some other places due to system constraints for a period from 30 to 45 minutes.
