The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued show cause notice to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) chairman asking the latter to explain why he failed to a take decision on the six allegedly erroneous questions in biology section of the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) conducted on May 4.
Hearing a contempt of court petition filed by a city resident, Dr Arvind Goyal, justice Mahesh Grover directed the chairman to file his response before July 18.
The petitioner told the court that on June 18, a division bench of the high court had, on his petition, directed CBSE to deicide on the questions within a week.
"But the authorities have failed to take any decision till date," it was submitted.
AIPMT was conducted for MBBS and BDS admissions on May 4 and its result was declared on June 7.
On June 8, CBSE had uploaded the answer key on its website and had also admitted to three incorrect questions in the exam, each of which were given four bonus marks. As per Supreme Court directions, the first round of counselling must be completed before June 25.
The petitioner had earlier approached the high court seeking time-bound directions for re-examination of the six erroneous questions in AIPMT. He also sought directions for granting grace marks for all the incorrect questions.
