The high court has taken a suo motu notice and has treated her letter as public interest litigation (PIL), wherein the victim had stated that even after six years of the attack on her, trial was pending in a lower court. The response has been sought by July 5.

The complainant, Daljit Kaur (26), had stated that on January 10, 2010, three boys had allegedly thrown acid on her destroying her face and resulting in partial loss of eyesight.

It has been stated that all the evidences had been presented in the trial court but the three accused were out on bail after spending only a few months in the jail. A number of judges hearing the case were transferred but the case was still pending, she has lamented.

“I don’t expect whether it will be decided in near future,” the letter reads, alleging that three culprits who threw acid on her face had “offered `7 lakh” to her in order to strike a “compromise”, but she turned down as she had “full faith” in the court and hoped that the court would award severe punishment to the culprits.
