The direction came from the high court division bench of justice SK Mittal and justice MS Chauhan during the resumed hearing of a public interest litigation seeking various measures to check pollution in cities such as Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
The high court bench also imposed a fine of rs 50,000 on contractor Jay Madhok Energy Pvt. Ltd. (JMEPL), New Delhi, for delay in creating infrastructure and a sought a status report by January 15. The contractor has been authorised to set up CNG stations in Ludhiana and Jalandhar
The court also asked Gujarat State Petronet Limited —authorised for building CNG stations in Amritsar — to apprise it by January 15 on infrastructure created by it for the project.
