Border Security Force (BSF) jawans on Wednesday seized six packets of heroin with an estimated market value of Rs 30 crore from the India-Pakistan border in the Ferozepur sector.

The unidentified smugglers were last evening spotted by the BSF jawans who were on duty at the Mandipur border post in Ferozepur sector. The culprits tried to enter the secured area by using a big plastic pipe, BSF deputy inspector general of Punjab Frontier R S Kataria said.

When the jawans warned them and tried to stop them, the smugglers fired at the them, following which they successfully fled the spot due to thick fog, Kataria added.

On Wednesday morning when jawans checked the hiding spot of the smugglers, they found six packets of heroin, one mobile, and one Pakistani SIM card, he said.

Each packet weighs 1 kg and the total worth of the six packs is estimated to be Rs 30 crore in the international market, Kataria added.
