After the incident on Friday night, accused Ramniwas cremated her body during the night hours to avoid any police investigation, they said. However, on the complaint of the maternal grandfather of the victim, the police later arrested the accused.

According to the police, in the preliminary investigation it was found that the accused suspected his daughter Manju of having an illicit relationship with someone.

Deceased's mother Sheela told the police that on Friday night Ramniwas came home under the influence of alcohol and killed Manju by attacking her with an axe. The police, along with a forensic team, visited the cremation ground for investigations.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Bhawani Khera police station incharge Deshraj Singh said, "The accused has been arrested and we have taken samples from the cremation ground and the axe allegedly used by him to commit the crime has also been recovered from the house".

The accused was remanded in police custody for three days by a Bhiwani court and the investigations were on, he added.
