A man opened fire at a dhaba in Hambra village late on Sunday injuring two persons. In his complaint to the police, dhaba owner Sarwan said Kamaljit Bhola, a resident of Nainowal Vaid, had come to the eatery around 10.15pm and made some unsavoury comments. When he and his brother Raj Kishore objected to it, Bhola opened fire with his pistol, alleged Sarwan.

Sarwan received a bullet injury in the chest while another bullet hit his brother in the arm. They were rushed to Tanda civil hospital from where they were referred to Hoshiarpur.

On Monday morning, the accused also got himself admitted to the Tanda hospital with an injured hand.

Station house officer (SHO) Harpreet Singh said a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act had been registered against Bhola. He would be arrested as soon as he is discharged from the hospital, said the SHO.

He added that the weapon used in the crime was licensed. The accused and the dhaba owner had an old rivalry, said the SHO.
