A day after terrorists strikes rocked the Kashimir valley, the Himachal Pradesh assembly on Saturday paid tributes to the security personnel and civilians killed in the attacks.
Revenue minister Kaul Singh Thakur, who moved the resolution in the absence of chief minister Virbhadra Singh, said the attacks were a “desperate attempt” to disrupt peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
Condemning the attack, Kaul Singh said the state would urge the Centre to ask Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations and backing cross-border infiltration.
Paying tribute to the victims, leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal said the militant attacks were an attempt to derail the democratic process in the Valley.
“People involved in such terror strikes are frustrated by the heavy turnout in the Jammu and Kashimir assembly polls,” said Dhumal, adding that the people are participating in the democratic process, giving a befitting reply to bullets by casting ballots.
“Pakistan can't fight a direct battle with India, and thus, is carrying out a proxy war,” said Dhumal “Rising above the party line, we pledge to fight against the terrorism,” he added.
Dhumal said an army jawan from Chamba district was also killed in the attacks. Speaker Brij Behari Lal Butail also paid tributes to the victims.

{{/usCountry}}The House observed one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls. The Kashmir Valley was rocked by four terrorists' attacks on Friday, who stormed an army camp in Uri killing 11 security personnel, including a Lieutenant Colonel and three policemen.
The attacks and gun battles left 21 people dead.
