A resident of Zirakpur near Chandigarh married here in Kapurthala, has registered a case with city police against her husband and in-laws, alleging cheating and fraud. The complainant has alleged that her husband had indulged in bigamy without informing her.
Police sources revealed, Simranjeet, married here on March 4, 2012, in her complaint alleged that her husband Bhupinder Singh alias Bobby was already married and had two daughters from her previous marriage, and his first wife was also alive.
She also alleged that all the family members kept this fact concealed and gave an advertisement in paper for marriage to which her family responded. When she started raising her voice, the family started threatening and thrashing her.
Later they deserted her following which she shifted back to her parents.
Police have booked Bhupinder Singh alias Bobby and his two brothers Jagjit Singh alias Shammi, and Parmjit Singh alias Pammi under sections 420 (cheating), 494(marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife) and 120-B (criminal Conspiracy).
