A 27-year-old schoolteacher, Geeta, from Raj Nagar locality in the city was allegedly murdered by her husband on Tuesday morning in their rented accommodation.

The accused, Sunil Kumar (35), was nabbed by their neighbourers when he was trying to flee from the house by scaling the walls. Sunil allegedly stabbed the victim with knife at least 20 times. Various parts of her body bore injury marks.

Stairs and other parts of the courtyard had marks of blood.

The neighbourers informed the police about the incident after which the victim’s body was brought down from the roof where Geeta was attacked.

The police took Sunil to the Basti Bawa Khel police station.

As per information, on Tuesday morning, the accused went to government high school in the Basti Bawa Khel locality where Geeta taught and brought her home. The two reportedly had a heated argument, following which the accused took a knife and stabbed her on the throat, arms, thigh, abdomen and others body parts.

Geeta’s mother Manju, a resident of Kapurthala, said her daughter had a love marriage with Sunil 10 years ago and the couple has also nine-year-old son. Manju said that Sunil was unemployed and her family had also helped him financially.
