If quota not restored, govt to take back land: Chandumajra

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday expressed anger at TU's posture against restoring the Punjab quota despite demands by the government. Party general secretary and former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra held a press conference in Patiala, where he said that the SAD-BJP government could "withdraw" the land (250 acres) given for establishment of the institute in the '50s. "TU's decision to abolish the quota is devoid of logic. If it sticks to its stance, the government will not hesitate in withdrawing the land on which the institute stands."

"The institute is not the property of the Thapars; it has been developed by the state government," he added, threatening an agitation by the SAD.
