Leader of opposition and Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said chief minister Parkash Singh Badal should implement all the promises made in the ruling coalition's election manifesto before the assembly elections.
Ahead of the wheat purchase, he urged the chief minister to ensure adequate arrangements besides ensuring time-bound payments, as harvesting had already picked up.
The SAD-BJP government should act against officials and contractors in case they cause inconvenience to wheat growers and commission agents during the procurement process, he said.
The leader of opposition, who was accompanied by former governor and Congress leader Bal Ram Jakhar, was speaking at a reception organised at the new grain market. Jakhar called for fairness in the sale of certified Bt cotton seeds at reduced prices as the state had arranged 80 lakh packets this year.
The chief minister should fulfil the promise to sanction Rs 1,000 as monthly unemployment allowance to youth, he said.
Jakhar ruled out factionalism in the party on the demand by a section of workers to replace the state Congress president. "The high command had taken steps to introspect why the party could not get majority even though its vote share increased as compared to the previous assembly elections," said Jakhar.
