Talking to the media, Abhay said INLD workers would assemble in the grain market at Ambala city on that day from where they would move towards Punjab to dig the canal.

Asked if the party had taken the government’s permission to undertake the march, he said the INLD did not need any permission as the SYL canal, the lifeline of the state, was the right of the state.

“Nonetheless, we have sent a communication to the Ambala deputy commissioner about our march and it would be the duty of the district administration to make adequate arrangements to regulate traffic movement,” he said.

In case of denial to INLD to undertake the march would only put a question mark on the Haryana government’s stand on the SYL canal, he added.

On the issue of the ongoing Jat stir, the INLD leader said the BJP government was intentionally letting the issue linger on, which could deteriorate the situation in the state.

He said Jat leaders were only pressing for their demands agreed upon by government on February 22 last year.
