Starting in the first week of April, a special aircraft would drop invitations in various areas of the city. The initiative has been taken by the district administration under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation project of the Election Commission (EC).

The administration has roped in Fly High Agency for the purpose. “The ‘invitations are nothing, but flyers inscribed with messages and slogans, urging the voters to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’,” said Ravi Bhagat, district election officercum-deputy commissioner.

He said 50 kg of pamphlets bearing the messages and slogans such as ‘Go Vote 30 April 14 SVEEP DC Amritsar’ would be dropped from the aircraft.

“The exercise would be conducted in the first week of April after the ‘Run for Vote’ marathon,” said the DC.
The DC maintained that the aim behind the initiative was to reach out to the maximum number of voters to ensure an impressive turnout.

Discounts are also being offered to other voters such as discount on return fares in the public transport system.
