'Jashan-2013' begins at GNDU

The inter-departmental cultural competitions -- 'Jashan-2013' - were inaugurated at Dashmesh Auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday. More than 600 students-artistes of various departments are participating in the four-day event, which would conclude on March 3.

The inter-departmental cultural competitions -- 'Jashan-2013' - were inaugurated at Dashmesh Auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday. More than 600 students-artistes of various departments are participating in the four-day event, which would conclude on March 3.

Vice-chancellor Ajaib Singh Brar inaugurated the competitions and said these activities inculcate among students a sense of cooperation, discipline and national integration. Dean, students welfare, PK Shejpal said students would participate in 30 cultural competitions.

On the opening day, the competitions started with bhangra. The students of music department also presented their selected items. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar, dean, academic affairs; Inderjit Singh, registrar, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, professor in-charge (examinations), TS Banipal, director, Academic Staff College; AS Sidhu, professor in-charge, publication bureau; Jagjit Kaur, director, youth welfare; and Gurpreet Kaur, head of the music department, were also present at the inauguration.
