Jhajjar to be developed on the lines of Gurgaon: Hooda

Skyscrapers and a Metro line; that is what is in store for Jhajjar district if the promises made by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Sunday are to be believed.

Addressing a state-level Kisaan Sammellan here, Bhupinder Singh Hooda here said Jhajjar would be developed on the lines of Gurgaon. " Today, Jhajjar has a railway line, an AIIMS-2 and foundation stones have been laid for prestigious institutions like IIT, National Cancer Institute, and Global Centre for Nuclear Sciences," said Hooda.

He also inaugurated a war museum on this occassion. On the state of affairs in Jhajjar, he said the area was earlier called a desert, but his government's development schemes had helped it transform into "Israel".
Exhorting farmers to adopt modern techniques, he said, "Modern techniques will increase agriculture production in less water, fertilizer and area."

He said that in the past 9 years, several schemes had been started for the welfare of farmers. "In the beginning, electricity bills amounting to about Rs 1,600 crore were written off by the government. Interest rate on crop loans was brought down from 11% to 4%," he added.
