The Dal Khalsa has termed the recommendations of the Justice GP Mathur Panel to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to reinvestigate 237 cases related to the 1984 carnage as “another ploy to mislead the Sikhs and further prolong the unending wait for justice”.
While talking to presspersons, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh blamed all political parties, including the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of “doing trade over Sikhs’ pain and innocent deaths”.
The spokesperson said the only hope left to them was from the United Nations (UN)-sponsored investigation on the pattern of a probe conducted by it into “atrocities committed by the Sri Lankan government on Tamil people” a few years back.
Commenting on Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take an immediate action on the panel’s recommendations, Kanwar Pal Singh said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was no different from other political parties, as it was also contesting the Delhi elections while riding piggyback of its alliance partner the BJP.
“The Badals too want to reap a political benefit out of it,” he said.
