Khatkar Kalan set to emerge as tourism and cultural centre

Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, is set to emerge as a holistic tourism and cultural centre. Disclosing this, deputy commissioner Anindita Mitra said that the patriotic heritage of the village would be preserved and it would also be developed as a tourist spot.

Disclosing this, deputy commissioner Anindita Mitra said that the patriotic heritage of the village would be preserved and it would also be developed as a tourist spot.

The DC was speaking at a 'sangat darshan' programme in the on Friday where she also listened to the grievances of the people.

The DC also took a stock of the construction work on the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh museum. She said the second phase which includes interior lighting and sound etc would be undertaken soon after the completion of the tendering process by the next year.

Responding to the demand of maintenance and compound wall of another park in the name of Mata Vidyawati, the DC directed the BDPO, Banga, to do the needful through MNREGA funds. She assured the residents of redressing their sewage problems through the rural water supply and sanitation department under the World Bank project.

She also assured to write to the state government to appoint a a permanent librarian and an attendant at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Library.
