The problems for owners of National Kidney Hospital are set to increase as the city police have again summoned them with records on Monday to corroborate it with report of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) that has arrived on Friday evening with the police.
The summoning has once again brought pace into the investigation of kidney racket that is being going on snail's pace. Sources in the police department claimed that the report from the DMER, which is the authorisation authority to sanction any hospital for kidney transplant surgery in Punjab has confirmed about some procedural lapses in six transplant surgeries that are under scanner in this racket.
They further added that the hospital's licence for transplant surgery has ended on July 3 this year and the hospital is being run on partnership between Dr Rajesh's wife Dr Deepa Aggarwal and Dr Sandeep Mittal's wife Suman Mittal.
The DMER's report has been seen as crucial for deciding future proceedings in the high-profile kidney racket. During the police investigation, several procedural lapses were found in performing kidney transplant surgeries and all lapses have been sent to the DMER, Mohali, to confirm about such lapses under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act.
After receiving of report, special investigation team (SIT) members, including deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Sandeep Kumar Sharma, ADCP crime J Elanchezhian and other members, at police control room on Saturday evening where the decision of summoning hospital owners was taken.
In another significant development in this kidney scam, deputy inspector general of police (investigations) Nilabh Kishore has also started investigations and gone through entire records submitted by the city police to him last week. The DMER's report has also been discussed with him by the city police.

DCP Sharma said it is too early to say about lapses and the police have been carrying out investigation point to point that is why we have asked them to come up with records on Monday.
Sadhna, arrested employee of the National Kidney Hospital, claimed that hospital owner Dr Rajesh Aggarwal was privy to the developments of transplant surgeries and alleged that the police had been threatening her not to give a statement against the doctor, Dr Rajesh Aggarwal.
Dr Rajesh Aggarwal has refuted allegations filed by Sadhna. " They are totally baseless and I don't know the motive behind this for releasing a letter to the media."
