A girl, 12, who was a domestic help at New Mansa Devi Nagar here and missing since September 4, has been traced and reunited with her parents, they police have said here on Sunday.
The girl was traced to Darbhanga in Bihar and brought here on Saturday before being reunited with her parents, a Phagwara police officer has claimed. The girl’s father, Maksoodan Sahni, had filed the complaint after the domestic help in the house of Kulwinder Kaur of New Mansa Devi Nagar locality had failed to return home on September 4.
Sahni, who lives in the same locality, alleged the involvement of Kulwinder Kaur and her son, Amroop Singh, in kidnapping his daughter. A case under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC was registered against the mother-son duo.
The police, later, received an information about the girl’s being traced to Darbhanga. A team was dispatched to Darbhanga, and it brought the girl here yesterday. After getting her medical examination done and recording her statement, the police reunited her with parents.
Last week, the girl’s parents and members of their community had staged a demonstration outside the Satnampura police station here and then outside the office of the deputy superintendent of police, alleging that the police had taken no action against Kulwinder Kaur and her son. Phagwara DSP Sukhwinder Singh and Satnampura SHO Ravinder Singh said the matter was still under investigation.
