The condition of 20-year-old Manrajwinder Singh, who was assaulted in Melbourne (Australia) on Sunday, continues to be critical, according to his family members at his native village, Nangal Kalan, in Hoshiarpur district.
Manrajwinder's mother Sarabjit Kaur is in a state of shock. She is being looked after by her brother, Malkit Singh Kang, at his house in Pakhowal village as her husband is settled in Greece and her other son, Yadwinder Singh, is also in Australia. The latter has been updating the family about Manrajwinder's health.
"On Saturday, I had a long talk with my sons and both said they were doing fine," said Sarabjit.
Malkit said his son, who is staying with the two brothers Down Under, had told him that Manrajwinder had been attacked by goons when he was sitting with his friends in a park.
Sarabjit said Manrajwinder had left for Australia in February to study accounts. "He wanted to settle there as his elder brother has become an Australian citizen," she added.
"I wanted to catch a flight at the earliest to meet my son, but was advised against it as no one is being allowed to see him in the hospital. In any case, I would leave for Australia soon," she said.
