The similar traffic lights were also installed in Tagore Nagar, which is functional, and they say these traffic lights are installed at an inappropriate location.

Raman Balli, a resident of Kitchlu Nagar, maintains, "The idea to install solar-power traffic lights was fantastic but what's the use of the traffic light that can't work properly. These lights, which blink red signal only, have become just showpieces now."

Another resident of Kitchlu Nagar, Sanchit Popli, said, "Not only in Kichlu Nagar but there is a need to install traffic lights on main roads also, where the mishaps are common. If the authorities are so serious about the energy conservation, they should install solar traffic lights in other areas of the city also."

SP Singh, additional commissioner, MC technical wing, said, "These four-way flashing lights were installed considering the traffic flow in the area."On being asked about non-functional traffic lights, he said, "I can only comment after visiting the area but if there is a problem, we would look into the matter."He also assured that the MC would install new traffic lights at others places after the Lok Sabha elections.
