The teachers alleged that the university changed the calendar without consulting the stakeholders.

In the academic calendar for the year 2013-14, the summer vacations were from May 7 to June 30 and winter vacations from December 17 to 31.

The calendar for the 2014-15, however, has curtailed the vacations substantially. KUTA said that the holidays from October 20 to 26 and March 4, 2015 to March 8, 2015 were not required.

It said that as per rules, there is a provision for teachers to credit in their account 1/3rd of the earned leaves in lieu of curtailed vacations from 10 to 8 weeks.
