Ladowal man stabs brother­-in-law’s wife to death

A woman was stabbed multiple times in the stomach by a relative in front of her nine-year-old daughter at Hazuri Bagh colony in Bhattian village near Ladowal on Wednesday morning, killing her on the spot.

The accused in the case, Sukhdev Singh, suspected that the victim Sukhwinder Kaur, wife of his brother-in-law, created hurdles in his third marriage.

As per the information, after the death of Sukhdev’s first wife, he married Sukhwinder Kaur’s sister. He regularly thrashed her due to which they got divorced and Sukhdev wanted to solemnise another marriage.

However, his marriage was not fixed due to some reasons after which he suspected that Sukhwinder had created hurdles for the same.

On Wednesday morning after Sukhwinder’s husband went to work, the accused came to her house and thrashed her. After the victim raised an alarm, her daughter came to the room where the accused stabbed her to death. The accused had brought a sharp-edged knife with which he killed the victim.

On being informed, senior police officials and station house officer (SHO) at Ladowal police station, Varunjit Singh, reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case.

Singh said they have registered a case against Sukhdev Singh, following the statement of relatives of the deceased.

Varunjit Singh said the accused was arrested few hours after the incident and a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him.

Singh informed that the accused has told that he was in a relationship with the victim. He also stated that his second wife and sister of the victim divorced him after she came to know about their relation.
