Jagdeep belongs to Doad village of the district.

The police had registered a criminal case under Section 66- A of the Information and Technology Act and Section 125 of the Representation of People Act against an unknown person for sending a grossly offensive and character assassination message to the sitting MP on April 24.

"The two sections under which the case was registered earlier were non-bailable while the police added Section 295 A (hurting religious sentiments) later on with an intention to keep him in police custody due to alleged political pressure which is unnecessary as the accused is himself a baptised Sikh and cannot hurt anybody's religious sentiments. Even the phone number on which the SMS was allegedly sent is not in the name of Faridkot MP," alleged some advocates from Faridkot.

"The number was being used at the house of the Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, however, if anybody has raised an objection to this, he should give us in writing and we shall look into it," the SSP added.
