Left parties - the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Communist Party of India (CPI) have decided to contest four of the total 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, CPM state secretary Inderjit Singh said while addressing the mediapersons here on Tuesday.
Singh said that both the CPI and CPM would field their candidates from Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal and Ambala and would announce their candidates along with other parties at due time.
He said the CPI would field candidates from Karnal and Ambala, while the CPM would contest from Hisar and Sirsa.
He said that their campaign issue would be on providing alternate policies and constituency specific issues and it would formally be launched from February 1, which will culminate in a large rally in Hisar on February 23. The rally would be addressed by CPM polit bureau Sitaram Yechuri and CPI national secretary Amarjit Kaur. A similar rally was to be held at Karnal on March 2, he said.
Meanwhile, the CPM on Tuesday demanded substantial reduction in power tariff rate in Haryana by urging the state government to order audit of power distribution companies by an independent agency.
Singh said that an audit of power discoms in the state could result in drastic reduction in power tariff.
Singh said that both the parties - CPI and CPM would organise district level protests on January 12 on burning issues like power rates reduction, opposing privatisation of transport routes, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) implementation, regularisation of jobs and deteriorating crime situation.”
