Former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Thursday said that live cartridges found in a school in Ludhiana was a matter of great concern as it had exposed chinks in the internal security of the state.

Bhattal said fortunately the bus staff came across the live cartridges kept along the boundary wall of the school or else nobody knows what could have happened.

"The state administration needs to get its act together in terms of internal security. Any laxity would cost the state dearly like the militant attack in Dinanagar, Gurdaspur," she said in a press release.

Slamming Parkash Singh Badal headed government, she said it had been not able to strengthen the internal security and had failed to maintain the law and order. She said owing to deteriorating law and order situation, crime in the state had increased to a significant extent.

She said crime against women in the state had shot up. "Cases of rape, sexual molestation and eve-teasing have increased recently. School and college going girls and working women are not safe," she said.
