According to the residents, conditions have worsened ever since the road was dug up at several places to lay sewage pipes last year. Traffic snarls have become commonplace as the flow of vehicles remains chaotic during the day and several accidents have taken place due to the slushy road being riddled with potholes.

Despite several complaints by residents and shopkeepers in the area the civic body has not bothered to begin repairs on the road.

Raj Kumar Gandhi, an area resident, said: “Conditions worsen during the rainy season with pedestrians and cyclists often finding it risky to walk or peddle on the slippery road.”.

Jasvir Singh Randhawa, a daily commuter, said: “I think the authorities will only wake up and begin repairs when there is a major tragedy.”
