The world around her fell apart when the one person whom she loved the most left her-never to return again. Lovejeet Kalsi still cannot forget that dreadful day of November last year. Rajbir, her only brother, died that day. He was 21. Rajbir met with a fatal road accident while returning home after taking the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) exam.

So when on Thursday, Lovejeet received the news of her success in the PCS, she wept, and wept. "The memories of my brother came flooding back to my mind," she said.

Even as the congratulations poured in from everywhere, Lovejeet just couldn't stop crying. " I dedicate this success to Rajbir. He will always live in my memories. He was ten-years younger to me, but he was my source of inspiration. Just a few days before the tragedy, he told me that I would become a PCS officer," she said.

Lovejeet secured the fourth position in the reserved category. On Sunday, three days after the news of her success, Lovejeet just wouldn't stop talking about her brother.

She said she still felt the presence of her brother in the house. "After he passed away, my resolve to get into the PCS got stronger." She said she was determined to fulfill his dreams and prophecy. "Rajbir would have been the happiest person had he been alive. I can still see him rushing to the market to get my notes photocopied. He would ensure that I did not waste any time," she reminisced.

This year too, she has cleared the preliminary exams of the civil services, and is preparing for the mains. "I will not rest, as my aim is to make it to the ICS. With my brother's wishes, I am sure I will succeed. He was also aiming for the civil services and I will fulfill this dream," she said.
