Punjab local bodies minister Chunni Lal Bhagat on Friday evening suspended Raj Kumar, municipal town planner (MTP), Ludhiana Municipal Corporation.
The minister said the MTP had been suspended because he was "not doing work properly".

"The minister has the power to suspend those who don't work properly. His (Kumar's) functioning in the department was full of anomalies," Bhagat said.
Sources said the MTP was suspended as an inquiry into alleged embezzlement and misconduct during his previous stint in Jalandhar was pending against him.
When contacted, director, local bodies, Priyank Bharti, said, "I am not aware of any such order passed by my office. This decision must have been taken at the minister's level."
