Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Friday made a surprise visit to the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Punjab cabinet minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, who has been a regular critic of the Akali state government.

Chawla, who issued a press release after the meeting here, said Majithia had come over to discuss the political scenario of Punjab. Not long ago, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, when asked to react to one of Chawla's statements, had said: "Is she still in BJP?" BJP state chief Kamal Sharma had to clarify that Chawla was a senior leader with immense contribution to the party.
