‘Majithia poster’ war rages on in Hoshiarpur

On Wednesday night, YAD activists tore off or blackened many such posters in different parts of the city and shared their exploit on the social media. AAP has condemned the ‘onslaught’.

The party’s national executive member Naveen Jairath said that a week ago when they had staged a dharna in front of the city police station against the tearing off of their posters, the police officials had promised that such things would not happen in future, but they had failed to check the ‘elements’ who damaged the material. “We submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner also but to no avail,” he rued.

He said that the AAP had put up posters at main crossings where police are on round-the-clock duty, yet the ‘perpetrators’ are not caught.

“It shows that the police have orders from the above to let the atmosphere spoil. The government wants to divert the people’s attention from real issues,” he alleged.

The AAP was trying to get cheap publicity by burning Majithia’s posters, he said.
